Ancient restored church of thirteenth century

The location of this video is the Church dedicated to S. Nazaro in a fraction of Castiglione Olona in the province of Varese (Italy).
The church is dated on a documental basis to the mid-thirteenth century. Thanks to archaeological research and the analysis of historical documents it has been possible to reconstruct the history of this church and divide it into three major phases: the first construction is mentioned by Goffredo da Bussero in the mid-thirteenth century, while the second phase is a phase of abandonment that goes from the XVIIth and XVIIth centuries, which ended with the almost complete reconstruction of the building with the original materials. The history of this church ends with a last phase of abandonment starting from the middle of the nineteenth century continued until today with the restoration in about 2009.

Near the church there is also a fascinating abandoned cemetery.
